Arun Ghosh Quartet

SOCIAL, 63 Humber Street, Hull, HU1 1TU

27 Mar 2022

Hull Jazz Festival are privileged to welcome award-winning British-Asian composer and clarinettist Arun Ghosh to Hull to celebrate their 30th birthday.

Arun’s taken the UK jazz scene by storm since winning Instrumentalist of the Year at the 2018 Parliamentary Jazz Awards. He returns to Hull with a new Northern quartet to launch his much-anticipated new album Seclused in Light.

Conceived in Calcutta, bred in Bolton, matured in Manchester and now living in London, Ghosh’s musical vocabulary and vision reflects his rich geographical heritage. Using the spirit and language of jazz, with the sounds and styles of hip-hop, Indian classical and folk, western classical, rock, pop and avant-garde.

Composed, recorded and produced during the lockdowns, the music on Seclused in Light is at times searing and effervescent, other times evocative and highly atmospheric – but always brought to life, and given breath by Arun’s uniquely expressive clarinet playing and style and his dynamic band.

Arun’s shows are always special, spontaneous and moving events. You won’t want to miss this one!
