In early 2020, Autosuggestions opened at The Sunday Painter in London, but the show closed early due to COVID restrictions. We will give this exhibition new life by bringing it into our Project Space.
To create wall-based sculptures, the artist scoured his local scrapyards to source a generational and global mix of cars, ranging from a 1956 Chevrolet to a 2011 Porsche. Fitzmaurice deconstructs and adapts the objects, resulting in a series of mask-like creations that seem almost-human. In this new form they appear to convey emotions, ranging from rage, looking pensive, meek or even erratic; ensuring that there will always be a sentiment we can relate to. Autosuggestions is part of Fitzmaurice’s ongoing series of works titled Autos (2013-present).
Due to current Covid-19 rules regarding Social Distancing, booking is a required in advance.
