Beverley Betrayal is a mystery play about a German spy who came to Beverley in World War Two. It is based on a true story and there is some singing and dancing. It also features a romance between an RAF Officer and a Beverley girl.
German planes bomb Beverley in World War Two and a signal is detected. Who sent the signal to Germany? Who is the Beverley spy? The spy has to be caught quickly before more people are killed. Suspicion falls on several people living locally…
The Beverley spy is still remembered by some people who lived through World War Two and the story has been passed down from generation to generation. Some of this play is based on local accounts, recordings and archive documents.
Beverley Betrayal was performed as part of The Queen’s Jubilee Celebrations in Beverley last year to a sell out audience and is back by popular demand.
