Northampton born singer / songwriter BILLY LOCKETT returns with his most personal work to date in the shape of provocative new EP ‘RESET’.
Following a whirlwind 12 months which has seen the young artist play his own 17 date tour across 9 countries / 16 cities with his biggest, sold-out London headline show at Shepherds Bush Empire, a 25 date EU / UK slot with global act ELO and a 9 date slot with LEWIS CAPALDI; LOCKETT also announces his debut US shows across New York and Los Angeles.
The new project reflects a particularly challenging time personally and professionally, and see’s the young artist return to being fully independent, laying down his demons and coming full circle back to his original sound.
Speaking on the new project, Billy quotes;
“The reason I’ve called this EP “Reset” is because that’s exactly what it is. I’m re-tuning my sound back to how it used to be.
When I signed to a major record label they pushed for me to make commercial pop records and I think it made my fans question my sound and it definitely made me question myself.
What I thought would be an amazing experience turned out to be an awful time for me. But now I’ve moved on, this EP is all about going back to my roots and letting you hear the songs in their simplest form.
How I created them and how I wanted them to be heard. No gimmicks. Purely music and meaning. This is the first EP I’ve released since Burn It Down and it almost feels like an older brother to that record haha. I really am so proud of it!”
Talking specifically on the meaning behind lead single / video ‘HARD ACT TO FOLLOW’;
“I almost feel as though ‘Hard Act To Follow’ is the song I’ve spent my life looking for.
I’ve recently had my heart broken into a million pieces and this song is therapy for me. As much as it kills me to sing and listen to it, I needed to write this song. Any one going through a heart break will understand this tune, I truly mean every word in it and have never been this excited about anything in my career before”
