Inspired in Hull with Marcella Goligher, Governor of HMP Humber Part of the International Women’s Day Celebrations

For International Women’s Day 2019, we are delighted to welcome Marcella Goligher, Governor of HMP Humber (Social Policy, 1989) as our next ‘Inspired in Hull’ speaker.

Taking overall charge of HMP Humber in 2016 (a 1,062 capacity Category ‘C’ Prison) Marcella Goligher has emerged as one of the region’s truly outstanding leaders.

Operating in society’s invisible corners, dealing with the people, communities and institutions overlooked, forgotten and pushed to the margins, Marcella has brought compassion, emotional intelligence and a values lead approach to leadership in a challenging and constrained environment.

Whether managing challenging behaviour from violent prisoners, delivering services to protect and help vulnerable young people, or navigating relationships with powerful external agencies, Marcella has improved services, changed lives, and made a powerful impact on the places where others may fear to tread.
