Artlink’s Spotlight programme presents Hull based artist Charlie Broomfield.
A fine arts graduate, Charlie is interested in studying people through drawing—particularly within inner city environments. Using a variety of mediums, he interprets the people he witnesses into two dimensional individuals, which are assimilated into publications and materialistic forms.
Charlie’s minimal approach and gestural marks capture the essence of his subjects. The nature of his methods and materials emphasise the individuality of the people he observes. They are translated into hand-drawn caricatures, representing a moment or series of moments trapped in time.
Spotlight is Artlink’s ongoing programme highlighting local artistic talent from Hull and its surrounding area in their Princes Avenue Spotlight gallery space.
Open evening: Fri 13 Apr, 6-9pm.
