Dearthworms are a 5 piece post-punk / wonk rock band from Sheffield, formed at Hatch, the city’s most chaotic and longest running DIY space.
Their music is a balancing act between raucous pub rock and noisy unease – delivered through odd time signatures, guitar heft and lyrics covering BDSM, aphids working in offices and pathetic men.
They are revered for their intense live sets, and have been longlisted by Music Venues Trust for their ‘must see’ acts in 2025. 2024 saw them release a highly acclaimed debut LP on Redundant Span records and multiple UK tours, including one with taxidermy puppet troupe Pish & Chips and Ye Woodbeast. The band includes ex-members of Blood Sport, hardcore punk bands Stray Bullet and Amorous Dialogues, illustrator Nohrr and regulars of the Hatch Anarcho Dramatics and Carbonara queer drag troupe.
“Beautifully formed and immaculately destabilised sonic chaos.. [an] astounding piece of work.” – Louder Than War, Album of the Week
“If David Firth, Protomartyr and David Lynch started a band, it would probably sound a lot like Sapsucker.” – Far Out Magazine
“Jagged yet wonky post-punk rooted in the weird and wormy folklore of North East England.” – Bandcamp, New & Notable Releases
THE QUIETUS “An all-consuming wall of sound, meant to be listened to at maximum volume.”
DECIBEL MAGAZINE“POHL excel at turning the known into the unknown, going one step beyond genre tropes, and generally finding novel ways to make exciting kinds of noise.”
