❄️ Winter sleep and Hidden lives ❄️

Under-5s Seasonal Nature Play Workshops.

Join us this Winter for three immersive, but gentle and playful workshops for under-fives and their grown-ups, introducing and exploring Winter animals that hibernate, brumate and overwinter.

Through movement, sensory play, storytelling and making, children will discover sleeping mammals, cold-blooded creatures and hidden insects whilst learning about the quiet magic of Winter.

22 January🦡 Sleeping mammals: Dormice and Badgers

29 January 🐸 Cold-blooded creatures: Amphibians and Reptiles

5 February 🐞 Hidden insects: An Overwintering Safari

Week 1: 22 January

🦡 Sleeping Mammals: Dormice & Badgers:

We’ll explore how mammals like dormice and badgers curl up and sleep through winter. Children will take part in cosy role-play, movement activities, counting and simple making, discovering how animals keep warm and safe until spring.

Week 2: 29 January

🐸 Amphibians & Reptiles: Cold-Blooded Sleepers

This session introduces frogs, newts, toads and reptiles, and the idea of brumation – a special winter rest. Through sensory play, movement and creative exploration, children will learn where these animals hide and how they begin to wake as the weather slowly changes.

Week 3: 5 February

🐞 Hidden Insects: An Overwintering Safari

Not all insects sleep in the same way. Children will go on a playful “insect safari” to discover the hidden Winter lives of ladybirds, bees, butterflies, moths, beetles and spiders through searching, movement and imaginative play.
