We’d like to open up the opportunity for local musicians to benefit from free training opportunities with visiting composer James Redwood. This series of three training days is available as part of the PRSF New Music Biennial Composer Residency programme.

In July 2017 the PRS for Music Foundation’s New Music Biennial Festival was hosted in Hull, involving commissions of new music from 20 composers. A composer residency programme has worked in parallel with this festival, with local communities, musicians and students in Hull to create new music. The PRSF’s New Music Residency is overseen by composer mentor, James Redwood, who has mentored those involved in the project. James has delivered continuing professional development sessions for students and supporting musicians, and we’re delighted that this opportunity can be extended into 2018.
Previous participants in these sessions have really valued them, and found them to be stimulating, fun and really inspiring.
Themes covered will include: sharing ideas about best practice in leading collaborative music making, how music leaders can practically support composition projects, sharing practical games, activities and compositional starting points for creative workshops.
