It’s a man’s world. But not for long.

Inspired by a true story and based on the hit movie, Made in Dagenham is the uplifting new British musical comedy about friendship, love and fighting for what is right.

Essex, 1968. Rita’s a busy mum, loving wife and hard-working factory girl. But life is about to change forever when the women in the stitching room of Ford’s Dagenham car plant are told their pay grade has been dropped to ‘unskilled’. Finding a strength she never knew she had, Rita leads her friends in a battle for equal pay, taking on the Unions, Ford’s top brass and the Government. As pressure mounts, can Rita keep up the fight for justice, and hold together the family for whom she is risking everything?

With a laugh-out-loud script by Richard Bean (‘The Hypocrite’, ‘One Man, Two Governors’) and bursting with catchy, infectious songs, Made in Dagenham was dubbed ‘The best British musical since Billy Elliot!’ when it hit the West End in 2014. Funny, inspiring and heartfelt, this big, brassy musical is brought to Hull New Theatre for the very first time, by award-winning Hessle Theatre Company.
