Middleton Hall presents Flood Histories and Climate Futures.
Thinking forward through the past offers us opportunities to change things for the better in the future.
In this inaugural lecture, we’ll explore how landscape and environmental histories can be mobilised to build climate and water resilience today and for the future.
Drawing on a range of collaborative and interdisciplinary research endeavours, we’ll investigate histories of living with water and flood over more than 800 years in one flood-prone town – Kingston upon Hull, UK – as well as think about how these ‘learning histories’ can be used to drive climate action via large-scale arts interventions and community engagement programmes.
