Band Biography
The Emily Masser/Alex Clarke Quintet features two of the brightest young talents to have emerged on the British jazz scene. Since discovering their mutual love for bebop, they have joined forces to perform fiery, straight-ahead jazz alongside some of the UK’s top musicians. The quintet delivers fresh, innovative arrangements of standards with a contemporary edge, whilst remaining
grounded in the swing tradition. Quickly gaining recognition amongst fellow musicians and audiences alike, they have become highly sought-after, with recent appearances at major UK jazz clubs and festivals including Pizza Express Soho, Swanage Jazz Festival and Buxton International Festival.
Emily Masser – Short Biography
At just 21 years old, vocalist Emily Masser is quickly gaining a reputation as a “new star of British jazz.” Originally from Wigan, she honed her craft at Chetham’s School of Music and now studies at London’s Guildhall School of Music. Mentored by jazz luminaries such as Claire Martin and Liane Carroll, as well as her father, saxophonist Dean Masser, she recently released her debut
album as a bandleader, Songs With My Father, featuring some of the finest UK jazz musicians.

Alex Clarke – Short Biography
Alex Clarke, a finalist in the BBC Young Jazz Musician of the Year 2020, winner of the Rising Star category in the 2019 British Jazz Awards and three-time Parliamentary Jazz Awards nominee, is recognised as one of the most in-demand saxophonists on the British jazz scene. Alex has performed with many notable names such as Alan Barnes, Alex Garnett and Mark Nightingale, and regularly works with top ensembles including The Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Orchestra. Leading her own quartet featuring leading names in British Jazz, her latest album “Out of the Woods” is due for release in Autumn 2025.
