Entangled Evolution: The Hidden Intricacies of Implementation in Health & Care
In his Inaugural Lecture, Professor Mark Pearson will open the lid on implementation – the gap between what is known and what is done. Drawing on his contributions to implementation research in Palliative Care (including delirium assessment and management, breathlessness, and person-centred outcome measures), Mark will reflect on what it means to do engaged science with (rather than for or on) people, why the philosophy of science is too important to leave to the philosophers, and the importance of not taking oneself too seriously.
With Professor Jonathan Koffman, he founded Hull York Medical School’s MSc in Palliative Care: Implementing Best Practice programme: https://www.hyms.ac.uk/postgraduate-taught/pgcert-pgdip-msc-in-palliative-care-implementing-best-practice
