Opera North brings you La petite bohème: a no-frills ninety-minute version of La bohème with piano accompaniment that perfectly captures the spirit of Puccini’s masterpiece. Singers from the staged production act and sing the highlights of the most popular Italian opera of all.
This moving, funny, romantic, tragic, uplifting tale is told through glorious music that perfectly captures both the overwhelming rush of love at first sight and the utter devastation of loss. Mimì and Rodolfo are in love and yet their constant fighting and arguing drives them apart. Musetta and Marcello are selfish, charming and proud. Yet all in a moment of tragedy, they discover their better selves…
This short version has no chorus, no orchestra and is ideal for curious first-time opera-goers as well as all who wish to experience beautiful singing up close and live in the intimate setting of Hull University’s Middleton Hall.
Tickets £15 (£10 concessions).
