Five brand new music collaborations featuring exciting Hull artists, supported by Hull City Council Arts Development team.
2pm – Nathan Simm and Paul Sargeson: The Space Between
A brand new collaboration between dub producer / DJ Simma and multi-instrumentalist Sarge, connecting the dots between jazz, reggae, trip-hop, electronica, broken-beat, techno, funk and new wave using a combination of live improvisation instrumentation, contemporary dub mixing and experimental sampling techniques.
2.40pm – Ysabelle Wombwell and Joe Mooney
Ysabelle is collaborating with percussionist and producer Joe Mooney to marry their two worlds as disabled artists working in inclusion and as musicians to create a new work; incorporating stories from disabled people, BSL performance, film and music technology.
3.20pm – Joseph Cox and Gary Hammond: Convergence
Convergence is a project that explores electronic rhythms and acoustic percussion, through the collaboration of an electronic musician Joseph Cox working with modular and analogue synthesizers and percussionist Gary Hammond with access to all manner of acoustic rhythm makers.
4pm – Sam Mavor and Daniel Thompson and the Eclectic Orchestra
Sam and Daniel aim to revive Gurewich’s Saxophone Concerto, originally for saxophone and orchestra. This partnership will enhance their understanding of how the saxophone can symbiotically work within the classical idiom, bridging the gap between modern orchestral instrumentation and the instrument’s capabilities. The Eclectic Orchestra will be led by Rebecca Parker.
