PRSF New Music Biennial 2019

12 - 14 Jul 2019

Bursts of sounds will guide audiences on a sonic journey of discovery as PRSF New Music Biennial returns in July 2019, following an extremely successful festival in 2017. New Music Biennial 2019 will celebrate the breadth and talent of those making new music in the UK, showcasing up to 20 bite-sized pieces of distinctive and exceptional music across all genres, including some brand new commissions.

The winning compositions will be selected by a panel of judges including Judith Weir (Master of the Queens Music), Vanessa Reed (CEO, PRS for Music Foundation), Katy Fuller (Creative Director and Joint CEO, Absolutely Cultured), Elizabeth Alker (BBC 6Music and BBC Radio 3), Kevin le Gendre (broadcaster/journalist), Gillian Moore MBE (Director of Music, Southbank Centre), and chaired by BBC Radio 3 Controller, Alan Davey.

In partnership with PRS Foundation, London’s South Bank Centre and BBC Radio 3, the New Music Biennial 2019 will manifest in two sets of public performances, first at London’s Southbank Centre on 5 – 7 July and then across Hull on 12 – 14 July 2019, also being broadcast on BBC Radio 3. There are plans for the pioneering New Music Biennial residency programme to continue, inviting local communities in Hull to create music alongside the best and most exciting musical talent of today.

Free, venues across Hull City Centre to be announced.
