Not only is Rioja one of Spain’s most renowned wines but it is also a region that increasingly produces wines beyond Tempranillo and the more traditional grapes. Join us on our exclusive wine tasting evenings as we delve deeper into the region and celebrate Riojan styles old and new and learn how wine makers are responding to evolving tastes and climate change.
We’ll be joined by winemaker Sergio Leza Ruiz from Bodegas y Viñedos Leza García in Rioja Alto in Northern Spain. He’ll introduce us to five of his modern, yet friendly and accessible, Riojan wines that showcase the uniqueness and personality offered by the growing conditions, vineyard and plot.
Each wine has been paired with a tapas dish designed by our Exec Chef Johnny and his chef brigade to highlight and showcase the flavours and nuances of each Leza García wine you’ll get to enjoy.
About Sergio Leza Ruiz & Bodegas Leza García
Sergio Leza Ruiz is the newest custodian of Bodegas Leza García, a family endeavour deeply rooted in the winemaking traditions of Rioja Alta. Recently joining his father and two uncles in the historic vineyard, Sergio carries forward a legacy initiated by his great-grandfather, Juan Leza Arenzana, at the dawn of the Twentieth Century.
Located in the famed Rioja Alta, the family’s vineyards benefit from an ideal blend of Continental and Mediterranean climates, nurturing grapes with a distinctive terroir. Sergio and his family meticulously tend to the vines, producing a diverse range of wines, from the fruity youthful Valdepalacios Tinto to the gently oaked and harmoniously balanced Leza García Rioja Reserva. Throughout their history Bodegas Leza Garcia have produced accessible and modern styles and truly excellent wines.

The youngest of Ambiente's four sites, they opened their Hull restaurant in 2016 on Humber Street, one of Hull’s favourite streets full of independent businesses so they certainly feel right at home! Whilst the exterior of the restaurant retains a touch of the building’s past, the interior has been transformed into a contemporary, vibrant and upbeat space with a host of knowledgeable staff ready to welcome you with open arms. Inside you’ll find an open plan dining area, featuring booths, banquets and tables as well as a bar area. For those summer days, the outdoor seating area overlooking the marina will whisk you away to the Mediterranean.
