Formed in 2012, Svarc Hanley Longhawn are a collaborative band performing original music with influences from the classic organ trios of the past and current jazz musicians alike. The music is written as a group with an emphasis on both written material and extended improvisation. For this performance, the trio will be joined by guest percussionist Rowan Oliver.
1pm – Gig
2pm – Band Q&A
‘These three push all the buttons, tick all the boxes. You want funk? You got it? You want jazz? It’s right there. Maybe you want to go a little towards the outside? They’ll take you there and bring you back in one piece.’
Lance Liddle – Bebop Spoken Here
‘The album closes on a majestic crescendo that is yet another of the many disparate characteristics that go up to make one of the album releases of the year for this reviewer. Gracefulness and power are very difficult to attain without upsetting the equilibrium, but this release manages that fine balancing act with a great deal of dignity.’
