An image starts to take shape on the screen as the artistʼs pen moves across the page, and a ripple of excitement runs through the audience. Is it a bird? Is it a monster? Could it be a little alien far from home?
Well-known for his endearing characters such as Beegu, Henry Finch, and Croc and Bird, acclaimed picture book author and illustrator Alexis Deacon works his magic as he draws live for the children, reads some of his memorable stories, and talks about how he came to be an author and artist.
The Children’s Bookshow has been delighting audiences at Hull New Theatre since 2019 with our annual tour of performances from some of the very best authors and illustrators from around the world.
This event is suitable for children aged 5-8 years old and is aimed at school groups and home educating families. Every child in the audience will receive a free book by Alexis to take home and keep!
The performance will last for approximately one hour.
