Join the Orchestra of Opera North and special guests to see out the year with waltzes, marches and song from the City of Music.
The Vienna Philharmonic’s famous concerts at the Musikverein have made the city, and the music of the Strauss family, synonymous with New Year celebrations. Opera North’s homage to the tradition returns to Hull this New Year’s Eve, with the Blue Danube Waltz, the Radetzky March and more offering a rousing welcome to 2022.
Young Italian-Turkish conductor Nil Venditti, Principal Guest Conductor of Orchestra della Toscana, takes the podium, with Irish soprano Máire Flavin – last seen on the Opera North stage as the Countess in The Marriage of Figaro – joining the ensemble for songs and arias by Lehár and others.
The Hull City Hall holds numerous and varied events ranging from the Classics Orchestral Concert series to pop concerts, comedy, conferences, exhibitions and degree ceremonies.
