A nostalgic trip through the many towns and cities – including Hull and Withernsea – that have inspired the authors during their careers.
Former Hacienda DJ turned writer Dave Haslam has written on towns and cities including Paris, New York and Manchester – and has also explored Hull’s legendary music scene. His interests lie particularly in life after dark – the hours of exploration, hedonism and inspiration out on the town at night.
Award-winning Northern writer, Adam Farrer’s acclaimed memoir Cold Fish Soup is a humorous and poignant exploration of how a place shapes its community. As Withernsea literally crumbles into the sea, how has this impacted the identity and spirit of the town.
They will be joined by host and author Lucy Nichol, who will discuss how Hull’s HU5 area and the city’s famous music venues played a significant role in the creation of her fictional dark comedies The Twenty Seven Club and Parklife.
An informal and relaxed evening of chat, readings and Q&A.
