A spotlight shining on some of the science, engineering and inventions that have had profound effect on humanity. Since mankind discovered fire, human ingenuity has driven us forward; inventions and ideas have shaped the world around us although, sadly, not always for the better! Starting in the stone ages and moving through to the present day you will zoom in on some of the key discoveries and un-pick their un-intended consequences.

Going back an astonishing 4.6 billion years and racing through to the present, you can leap through time and discover the story of life on this planet. From the tiniest bacteria through the fearsome and friendly dinosaurs, and onwards to the arrival and ascent of man. We end in the present day discussing the problems now faced as we try to create a sustainable environment in which humanity can thrive. The talk is very fast moving and entertaining, whilst telling a fascinating story.
