An extraordinary celebration of female courage and determination.
When she’s not performing with Radiohead and Lee Scratch Perry, celebrated BritishBahraini trumpeter Yazz Ahmed describes her own music as ‘psychedelic Arabic jazz, intoxicating and compelling’.
Performed with a 13-piece ensemble, Polyhymnia is a tribute to inspiring women –Malala, Rosa Parkes, Ruby Bridges, Haifaa AlMansour, the suffragette movement and jazz icon Barbara Thompson. Ahmed’s last album garnered rave reviews and made many ‘Best of 2017’ lists around the world – this is one to watch!
